QUIX 2020 NYE Festival Tour
After officially getting the green light from the New Zealand government to go ahead with gatherings of any size, it ended up being a very busy Summer festival season for us! This included a cheeky trio of headline festival shows with QUIX.
QUIX’s brand new show was tailor-made in readiness for this whirlwind tour, which spanned the length of the country across 3 consecutive dates: Northern Bass in Mangawhai on the 29th, Rhythm & Alps in Wanaka on the 30th, and a very special finale at Rhythm & Vines in Gisborne for New Year’s Eve. As to be expected, a new production comes with its own unique challenges, but this new team bonded together quickly to on-the-spot problem solve and put something into the world that punters really loved each and every time.

QUIX played right up until the iconic and always-anticipated R&V NYE countdown video, and this year’s edition felt particularly special considering the unique circumstances. The New Year’s Eve set also included a very cute on-stage cameo from Jono’s lovely wife Olivia and adorable young son Otto. So bloody wholesome!
It was so, so awesome doing these full-scale festival shows alongside longtime Kiwi friends. One major positive of the whole Summer festival season in New Zealand was the fact that incredible local artists were pushed to the forefront on these lineups, and our tight-knit live music family all came together in solidarity to make it a beautiful reality. Safe to say there were a LOT of happy tears and toasts to doing what we love safely and successfully!
It may have been a quick little run, but it was particularly momentous – none of us thought we would get to be able to pull off anything like this in 2020! We are counting our blessings after this one.
